We offer a number of blood tests that are used to screen for potential diseases and ensure treatment is working for the wellbeing of your cat.

Why are blood tests important for my cat’s health?

Cats can hide symptoms well and subtle changes in your cat’s health can be easy to miss. Regular blood screening can catch potential issues before they become serious health risks like diabetes, kidney or liver disease, or thyroid problems.

How long does it take to get blood test results?

We offer many in-house blood tests that are ready that day or within hours. More complicated or unusual blood tests can be sent away to a larger laboratory and may take several days up to 1 week to get results.

How should I prepare my cat for their blood tests?

Sometimes cats need to be fasted prior to taking blood or taken several hours prior or after giving a medication. Please ask your veterinarian or our team members for further instructions.

How often should blood tests be done?

Yearly wellness blood screening is recommended, especially as your cat ages. For specific diseases, specific in-house blood tests may be required as frequently as once or twice a week. Talk to your veterinarian to decide what is best for your pet.

Does your hospital perform urinalysis and biopsy?

Yes, we perform urinalysis daily in-house and biopsy as needed. Biopsies are sent away to a special lab for testing. Quick fine needle aspirates are also done in-house and can be looked at here or sent away for special testing by an expert histopathologist.
